Welcome back to the three-part series on mining and maximizing a success mindset. I believe mindset is what makes – and breaks – solopreneur success.
Click here to read the first of the series. Here are three more of my favourite solopreneur success mindset must haves.
#1: You are YOU, exactly where you need to be right now.
You’re going to see other successful entrepreneurs everywhere. Look how easy it is to find successful women in business online. You may even be subscribed to a number of their blogs.
I bet they seem more advanced. You may look at them in awe. You’ll ask how they have it all together, and how do they have it all figured out.
Maybe your mind wanders and you compare yourself to them. That nasty comparison trap sets in and you can hear yourself saying you’re not enough, you haven’t done enough or you’re not where you need to be.
Here’s something that took me a while to figure out. You can’t possibly know the whole story of what’s happening in someone else’s business. You only see the tip of the iceberg and can’t possibly see in the inner workings or the behind-the-scenes.
What you CAN focus on is YOUR business, where YOU are and where YOU want to go. You’re exactly where you need to be right now, no more and no less. There is huge learning and huge opportunity where you are right now.
#2: Say NO to doing it alone.
The word “solopreneur” instantly attracted me when I first saw it. You know why? Because it’s a misnomer. At first glance, it looks like you’re solo, independent and alone. Yet, you’re SO far from alone no matter how small your business. The resources around you are plentiful.
The point is it’s all about asking for HELP. You’ll be stronger when you reach out and get help. This is NOT a weakness.
In the words of one Solopreneur Survival Summit attendee, “I look back on my biz and realize every time I hit a barrier it was because I didn’t know how to do something technological or didn’t understand a process, and then stalled. If I had hired someone (a VA) to help in these times I would be oh so much further along than I am in my business.”
#3: It’s about abundance vs. scarcity. Abundant action.
There is more than enough business to go around for everyone. For example, look at the Solopreneur Survival Summit. I partnered with eight other solopreneurs who all coach women in a similar market to me.
At first glance, one would think they’re my competitors. Sure, they’re working with similar ideal clients. However, it’s not about competition. It’s about abundance and helping each other succeed.
We all believe that the right clients will find the right coach at the right time. And the coach will find the right client at the right time. I believe this is the same for any other solopreneur service provider out there. Your right clients will find you at the right time.
When you see the world from an abundance mindset, you’ll have room and energy for what’s going to come, and that is bound to be prosperous. You can be so much more with others than you can be alone.
Feel stuck? Get into abundant action. Where you put your energy is where your energy is going to go. One of my favourite mentors Gina Bell says, “Your energy flows where energy goes.” I love that. It’s so true, would you agree?
So, if you’re focusing on things not getting you closer to your big why, then why are you doing them? That’s why having a navigation point is so important because it gives you a decision making tool to ask if an opportunity or task gets you closer to or takes you further away from your vision.
One of my favourite “getting unstuck” things to do is to go on a power walk over the lunch hour. I find I’m more resourceful and clear after my walks, and ultimately better for my clients. What about you?

Thanks Nadine, Just what I needed to read today. As a beginner at solopreneurship, it’s so easy to get stuck in my head and, my home, working to “get it perfect”. Abundant action is a wonderful reference for me. It encompasses so many actions, including reading articles that inspires me to move forward with the things that build toward my business/life goals. Often reading will remind me of the exciting world around me and give me the energy to move into action.
I also like the “start before you’re ready” from the 1st part of this series, it’s a perspective that serves me well, it’s going on my wall!
I read a great article from entrepreneur.com on LinkedIn today that fit’s with the “Say NO to doing it alone” tip you’ve provided. Thought I’d share it:

Looking forward to part 3! Cheers and with gratitude. Martina
Martina, I’m glad it resonated with you! Staying in action is so essential to solopreneur success. I recommend Steven Pressfield’s book “Do Your Work” – it’s a short and inspiring read. It helped me when I read it back in December. I was putting together the Solopreneur Survival Summit and nearly made a decision to not offer my Survive to Thrive Solopreneur Bootcamp to Summit attendees because I hadn’t completely finished the development of the program. By changing my perspective to “start before I was ready” I offered the program as a pilot and am now co-creating it with the 23 people who are already registered.
Had I not offered it, 23 people wouldn’t have had this opportunity, plus I would have been stuck trying to get it perfect. Thank you for sharing your article, I look forward to reading it! ~ nn
Well I’m not succesful yet because I have not started yet, I’m in the starting blocks, and what helps me with administration and all the things I have to do before I have everything ready for the launch is to take all the time needed to fix my mindset. I can easily fall into depression or over enthusiasm (which does not help really when you can’t concentrate 5 minutes in a row because so many ideas are popping into your head). I’m taking half of my preparation time into spiritual readings and into journaling. It will be less important later but for now I need to “fix my brain”. And it is slowly improving my concrete results.
When I will be ready for the launch I would better not fall into the depression trap again.
Thanks for a great article Nadine – I’m really looking forward to part 3!You are so right in highlighting the importance of the success mindset. It really is what makes or breaks any endeavour we may venture into. I particularly resonated with the point you made about each of us being exactly where we need to be now. I’m someone who often gets lost in the future, forgetting the power of now. From now on I’ll definitely be focusing on where I want to go, as that’s the most important thing
Thanks Michelle. It’s a real skill to be able to rise to 30,000 feet to see the big picture / vision / future AND implement at the same time. ~ N
